Get to Know Your Lawyer - David Sloan

May 20, 2016  |  David Sloan

Dave Sloan is a family man.  He has a loving wife, one son, one daughter, and two granddaughters of whom he is very proud.  When he is not working, which is rare, David enjoys attending his granddaughters’ extracurricular activities, such as soccer, basketball, and gymnastics and swim meets.  He also enjoys cooking; we hear he makes fantastic chicken cacciatore!

David is incredibly dedicated to the practice of law.  Hardly a weekend goes by when he cannot be found in the office at some point.  It’s no surprise that his piece of advice to future generations is, “Be 100% prepared.”  Whether it’s a class, an interview, a test, etc., “There is no substitute for preparation.”   David places upon himself the same expectations to which he holds other people.  We all get nervous; we all feel insecure; we all wonder if we are truly ready for the challenges ahead.  But it’s preparation that gives you the extra burst of confidence right when you really need it.  There’s no substitute for it.  David is an incredibly encouraging attorney who gives both his clients and his co-workers the support they need to tackle even the most challenging issue.

His proudest moment is watching his children complete their education and training and move on to fulfilling and successful careers.  His son is a professor at the University of Louisville as well as a Julliard-trained opera performer.  His daughter obtained her Degree in Education from Transylvania University, has since secured her Masters degree, and teaches math and history.

When he finally takes a moment to unwind, David enjoys having dinner at Otto’s in Covington’s Mainstrasse Village or socializing with friends at the Ft. Mitchell Country Club, where David has been a member since 1979.  Dave’s music of choice – Motown, although he can’t turn the volume down on old school Country (think Willie Nelson) and Classic Rock.

Although David Sloan is a stickler when it comes to law, he knows how to appreciate his personal time, and he does his best to maximize every minute of every day.  Here’s to the future and what it may hold . . . .
